• Red, tan, and yellow calico "Rose of Sharon Applique". Signed and dated in the quilting "AEC 1898", "LCW", and "SBR", each in different corners. Flower, double diamond, conforming, heart, and other quilting at 8 stitches to the inch. Found in Strasburg, VA. Made by the same woman as the Oak Leaf Applique Variation below. • Red and tan "Oak Leaf Applique Variation". Signed and dated in the quilting "AEC 1897". Flower, conforming, feather, and other quilting at 8 stitches to the inch. Borders on two opposite sides.
